I think I've heard that statement more in the past two weeks than in all of the rest of my life combined. You know that frantic pace you assume when you know you're behind and you won't be up in time for service? Well, working at per se is all about embracing that pace and making it normal and sustainable. But with everyone else also operating in that mindset, there's a definite unspoken solidarity that exists beneath the surface.
The last two weeks have been a blur as I condition my body to wake up at 4AM three days a week and to stay up until 4AM the other two days. My two days off each week are spent sleeping, doing laundry and other miscellaneous maintenance, and staring at the wall. Despite all that, I can already see my skills improving.
